Getting Around Myrtle Beach — Transportation Guide

Airport

Myrtle Beach International Airport (MYR) is 3 miles from the beach. Direct flights from most major East Coast cities. Rental cars available at the terminal.

Driving

Kings Highway (US-17 Business) runs north-south through the center of town. Ocean Boulevard runs along the beach. Highway 31 (Carolina Bays Parkway) is the fastest north-south route avoiding traffic.

Golf Carts

Legal on most side streets with a 35 mph speed limit. NOT legal on Ocean Blvd, Kings Hwy, or any road with a speed limit over 35 mph. Must have headlights, taillights, and a slow-moving vehicle sign. Rentals available from multiple shops along the boulevard.

Rideshare

Uber and Lyft both operate in the Myrtle Beach area. Wait times can be 15-30 minutes during peak summer evenings.

Public Transit

Coast RTA operates bus routes along the Grand Strand. The free downtown trolley runs along Ocean Blvd during summer months.
